Lojas de eleição / Go-to shops

Dotquilts
Apenas conheço a loja online e apenas adquiri fios de algodão.

Dyed by Alfinete

A few days ago, a very kind follower on Instagram asked me this question, and it's a good one: where did I buy the yarns and threads I use in my projects.

This made me think that it might be a good idea to make a list of the shops where I usually buy the yarns and materials I use.

Beforehand, a small disclaimer to let you know that I am not writing this in exchange for any compensation whatsoever, because it is not my style to advertise around. When I do, I do it because I am talking about shops that I know , where I feel well attended and well served and where I can find what I am looking for.

So here is a list of shops, by no means in order of preference, where I usually buy yarn:

Retrosaria
In this shop I have bought portuguese wool (Beiroa e João) and foreign brands of yarn (Malabrigo and Opal)
Here I have also bought fabrics.
I already bought at the physical store and on the online shop. The delivery of parcels is usually very speedy.
The sewing books they have available caught my eye and went straight to my wish list (which is already quite extensive...)

Tricot das Cinco
In this shop you can find an enormous range of yarn brands. I only came to know the physical store recently, so usually my shopping here happens mostly online. The choice available is so big and fantastic that it makes it quite hard to choose from. The shipping of parcels is also very speedy.
Here you can also find needles, t-pins and all sorts of tools and accessories.
The magazines available leave you sighing.

Bola de Tons
I am afraid I don't yet know the physical store, given it's distance in terms of geography (not because I don't miss Coimbra enough... ), so my purchases are only thoughout it's online shop. This is where I can find specific brands of yarn (Hedgehog Fibers, Eden Cottage Yarns, Zauerball) and they also have their own brand of wool: É Lã. They recently started having Hyia Hyia Sharp needles available, which is a brand I know already and plan on buying in the future.

Ovelha Negra
I have only been physically at the store quite recently, at the last Yarn Crawl, so until then my purchases were made only online, and the delivery is made in a very speedy manner. I am a big fan of their own brand of wool cotton blend Olívia and I have their wool Ofélia to use in the future. Here you can find a big range of yarns, portuguese brands and foreign and all types of tools and accessories for knitting and crochet. They also feature some indie dyers as well.

Senshoku
This is the store were I usually go to for buying Drops yarns. I only bought online and I never had any problems with the deliveries, that are also very speedy. This is also the store where I bought my interchangeable kit of knitting needles by Drops Pro.

Lili Blue
This is my local haberdashery, where I usually buy bias tape, buttons and zippers. This is also where I buy most of the accrilic yarns, given the wide range of Rosários4 yarns. The fabrics they have for sale have increased in number and in beauty, which makes them quite the temptation...

Dotquilts
I only bought online and only cotton threads.

Dyed by Alfinete
Paula is an great indie dyer and I am sad to say that I have only one skein of Sul in my stash, which is super soft and has the most gorgeous color!

Dona Maria
A Rosário is another fantastic indie dyer that has the most amazing yarn. In my stash I already have two skeins of her hand dyed sock yarn.

Pontinhos ao Vento
Maria  began to venture in the yarn dying world and the result couldn't be better! I have two skeins in my stash of hand dyed yarn by her!
Yarnadventures
Filomena is the indie dyer behind this brand and she is also very talented. Although I never bought anything directly througout her online shop, I recently got one skein of her sock yarn through Clube da Meia and it made me realise that this will be a shop were I surely will buy in the future.
